Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) originated in China centuries ago. Today it is one of the fastest growing health care professions; it is as timely and therapeutic now as when it began. Join ASAOM in the study and exploration of this ancient medicine and carry its message of balance = health to your community. Choose from: Masters of Acupuncture, Masters of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine, Asian Bodywork Therapy/Tuina Certificate and soon a Professional Doctorate.
The Masters of Acupuncture and the Masters of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine programs of the Arizona School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine are institutionally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (ACAOM): the recognized accrediting agency for the approval of programs preparing acupuncture and Oriental medicine practitioners. The Association of Bodywork Therapies of Asia (AOBTA), approves ASAOM’s Asian Bodywork Therapy/Tuina Certificate. ASAOM is licensed by the Arizona State Board for Private Post Secondary Education (ASBPPSE).
To begin one of our Master’s programs you would need 60 semester credits of accredited college course work (or 90 quarter credits). The overview of our programs are found on our website. Each of our programs builds into our M.Ac.O.M. program. For a snapshot please visit, link: https://www.asaom.edu/macom . Please note, our Professional Doctorate (P.D.) program and Addiction Therapy Certificate are currently being developed.
ASAOM imparts a solid foundation in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), this enables our graduates to confidently take the national exams and our student’s scores reflect this. Our Acupuncture program includes the 8-principle and 5 element approach to diagnosis and treatment. Unique to ASAOM is the inclusion of Tuina Certification (built into both our Master’s programs) which is the foundation of TCM treatment. The Herbal Medicine curriculum in our program is taught by Materia Medica. Additionally, students may complete a term at an affiliate school in China and/or a TCM Hospital externship in Beijing, China after graduation (both optional).
In keeping with the tradition of Oriental medical practitioners and apprenticeship, ASAOM emphasizes clinic based learning. From your first quarter, we involve students in patient care. Your education includes several traditional ways of practicing in order to encourage understanding and respect for different approaches to health care.
