5 things to do in maintaining a healthy gut microbiome:
- Eat anti-inflammatory foods (leafy greens, cold-water fish, nuts, seeds, olive oil, berries, cruciferous vegetables, peppers, beets, garlic, turmeric, etc.)
- Consume probiotic foods (sauerkraut, kimchi, pickles, kefir, active yogurt, etc.)
- Consume prebiotics (garlic, onions, leeks, asparagus, bananas, barley, oats, apples, flaxseeds, etc.)
- Avoid anti-inflammatory foods (sugar, processed foods, white bread, white rice, alcohol, red meat, etc.)
- Supplementation is key. There are a lot of great supplements out there, but here is a good gluten-free supplement line to try – Essential Stacks: (1) Gut L-Gluatamine – great for leaky gut and strengthening the gut lining. (2) Pure Enzymes – great for general digestive issues.
